ArtCamp K-2
Get ready to make a mess (the creative kind) and learn a ton along the way! In this Art Camp, students will dive into the Elements and Principles of Art—playing with line, shape, and color, and discovering how balance and harmony can make artwork really sing. We’ll create both 2D and 3D projects using all kinds of materials, like painting, drawing, clay sculpture, and recyclable art. On Thursday, we celebrate “Cody Community Art Day” with a scavenger hunt down Main Street to spot and appreciate public art and galleries. We wrap up the week with an “Art Show” at 2pm on Friday!
Grades K-2 session dates:
June 2-5
June 16-19
July 14-17 (waitlist only!)
ArtCamp 3-5
This week is all about leveling up our art skills—plus a dash of Art History inspiration! We’ll refresh the Elements and Principles of Art, try out new drawing techniques, explore color theory, and learn how composition helps our artwork really pop. We’ll even make our very own sketchbook, then start each day by drawing from life and the natural world around us. Along the way, we’ll focus on craftsmanship in both 2D and 3D projects, including fabric arts and weaving, clay sculpture, and recyclable art. ArtCamp Studio 4-6
It’s time for a week of Western Art—spotlighting Wyoming and regional artists. We’ll explore the art and artists of our region and take inspiration from works on display at the CodyArts Gallery, as well as art displays at the Buffalo Bill Center of the West. We’ll also spend time appreciating the Buffalo Bill Art Show and Sale and the Buffalo Nation exhibit. Back in the studio, we’ll keep our sketchbooks buzzing with ideas while building skills in Plein Air watercolor and pastel techniques, acrylic painting, and sculpture.
Grades 4-6 Studio session: July 28-31
ART Experience Project with Susan Bishop:
July 7-10
I'VE BEEN FRAMED! Students will create colorful art using several different techniques, and then create frames to complement each piece. Bring your funk and create a fun colorful self-portrait! Make your own scratchboard and release your inner artist! Students will also create a piece of fireworks art using chalk and stencils they'll make themselves. Wire art and alcohol ink will also be explored--students will have the opportunity to cut their own glass to paint on with alcohol ink.
