Painting Layered Landscapes with Brenda Trippel
Come join us for an engaging 2-day workshop on how to paint a layered landscape in transparent watercolors. This class will concentrate on using the inherent qualities of transparent watercolor to build rich layers of color that communicate the incredible beauty of our Wyoming landscapes.
Using the Principles and Elements of Design, we will learn to use various watercolor techniques (e.g. washes, glazing, dry brushing) to create varied textural effects (rocks, mountains, sky, trees, grasses, water, etc.). We will also consider composition and study how light and shadow interact with the environment. We will discuss the important roles that the artist's tools (paper, paints and brushes) play in a successful watercolor painting.
Through instructor demonstrations, group discussions and individual instruction, participants will come away with new ideas, skills, tools, tips and techniques to continue to grow in their own art journey. Whether you are a beginner or an “old hand,” this class should offer something for you!
Saturday, October 3, 10 am - 4 pm to Sunday, October 4, 9 am - 1 pm. $175 ($157.50 for CodyArts members)
